Welcome to my Travel page.

"One travels the world searching but returns home to find it"

This is one thing that is very important to me.  I feel it is such an education to view the world in other people's eyes, as well as appreciate the things that we have.  I also realize that no matter where I travel, people love to smile.  One thing that I have discovered is that people who have very little are sometimes the happiest people.  Hmmm. Something to think about.

Attached are some highlight photos of various trips around the world:

With the embargo, nothing has been imported into the country so everything is old and falling apart.  But in saying that, the people have music and sole and no one can ever take that away.  The people are always dancing and listening to music.

The best thing about this picture is that the fan in the wall was actually still working.  It was slowly turning with one of the blades slightly rubbing against the frame making the slightest scraping sound.

This was taken from the street into a courtyard.  They had no idea I was there.

October 2005 - Bogota, Columbia. Took some time away to visit this beautiful country.  Extremely diverse topography, ranging from hot beaches in the west to mountain ranges in the east.

Overlooking Bogota from the mountainside.  Heavy Spanish influence in the building styles with several new modern structures now being built.

From Bogota, hopped over to Cartegena (pronounced cart-e-hay-na) on the Caribbean Sea.  Very lazy town with low colonial structures.

Spent a day on one of the islands.  These two guys paddled up in a hand carved boat with one huge live crab and one huge live lobster.  "Do we want lunch?"  They paddled off , cooked them both up and brought them back.  Simply the best food I have ever eaten, hands down.

Ran to the bottom of canyon and back up again.   I dropped 5000' to the Colorado River.  I therefore had to climb back up the same 5000'.  Shorts and T-shirt at the bottom with snow at the top.
